Soma

Sketched on the skies; a network of vapour trails
Kisses from engines on a blanket of blue
The buildings below me stretch up to the cosmos
And cable cars glide back and forth to the moon

Curled up safe in my make-believe world
My soul gives up a smile
And an innocence reaches for miles and miles
I can touch it all from a distance
There is no resistance to this bliss as I swell

The silence envelopes me in a shroud made of light
The breeze remains motionless; the sky in a frame
I feel like a panhandler of someone else's dreams
As the minute I wake it's all taken away

So sweet, and yet so very sad, because as you said, it's all taken away. Some lovely phrases-cable cars to the moon-and a new exploration of the true glory that can be the imagination-even if it's not real. I'm not sure about the real point of the first two lines in the last stanza, but I'm pretty tired right now, so feel free to ignore me. Good stuff.
