The Statue

I stand unclothed
a godess out of clay.
This is what you have structured
painted and pressed into form.

Once nothing more than wet material
molded out of water and wheel
Your fingers took their time
your eyes consented
an unwritten language of thoughts
sensuous and naked.

I grew into a statue
someone who could stand out in the rain
withstand wind and weather your storms.
Sun dried cracks filled in by birds
who stood their ground upon my shoulders

I cannot walk a reality you have stood me on
the pedestal seals my fate now rooted
into the ground surrounded by beautiful flowers.
Roses with great thorns so others will not come near
children will walk away and not sense my being
a truth I wish to speak.

A path rounds a domain
in which you have placed a plaque in my honor
some people will shake their heads and acknowledge
my fame in relations man made.
creating something serene
out of clay and stone
water and a wheel

a perfection spun and shaped
into forever and a day.
Then walked himself into eternity
without looking back to see
if he had made me smile.

I hear a melody in this.Very graceful. For some reason though the fifth stanza I felt, can be stronger. Love the ending.

One correction, in the third stanza, fourth line "crackes" should be "cracks."
I agree with megabyte800- this could be a spiritual piece with the metaphores you used to the potter. I liked the ending and continuity of the theme.
