Forever There
Blood is flowing through my veins
at the speed of light as I watch you
walk gracefully down the aisle. A
wedding dress whiter than the whitest
pearl caresses the crimson carpet.
Your eyes meet mine; those radiant blues
will arrest my heart for all eternity. Finally,
you reach me. I watch as your father
gives you away and tears begin flowing
from his eyes. His beloved daughter is
leaving the nest. She has discovered herself
and she is moving on to better things. The
cautious little hummingbird has morphed
into a strong and intelligent eagle. You
know what you want and you grasp it with
your talons. We stare into each others eyes.
Your smile reigns supreme; there is no
comparing it to even the most mesmerizing
tropical sunset. I grab your hands; they are
softer than a minx coat. Yet, they are cold.
Why? You're nervous. It's ok. I will be your
insulation. I am like super glue sweetheart;
I am stuck to you. The rabbi says his last word
and it is now time for the princess to kiss her frog.
The frog looks into the princess's priceless blue
gems and he goes in for the kill. The princess does
not hesitate as her prince in disguise draws ever
closer. Finally, the union is completed as lips lock
tight. A refreshing breeze blows through the palms
of the pristine beach. The sun is setting beyond the
horizon as foot high waves berate the shore. The
clouds are masts of cotton candy racing across the
sky, as if the spirits themselves have come to see
the occasion that brings much jubilee. The princess
bride looks up into the sky and knows her guardian
angel stares from up high. It was three years to this
day that her grandfather passed away. Tears begin to
raid her eyes as she says, 'I love you Grandpa. I know
you will always be nearby.'
