Society

Society sets the rules of today,
for what's appropriate to do and what's appropriate to say.
But who is society? Doesn't it include me and you?
Then why can't we govern what we want to do?
Who is this society we are all trying to please?
This society that has people bowing down on both their knees.
It's so hard to be accepted, but easy to be cast out.
Maintaining control is what society is all about.
No ideas will be heard, no voice can be too loud.
To be a part of society, you have to stay restrained to the crowd.
Those who choose to fly from society's cage
are often shot down by society's rage.
I will not conform, my mind is too complicated.
They will not have me, society is overrated.
