my muse

My muse
is sadistic and cruel
lashing me
with inspiration
laughing
as I claw for paper

My muse
will not come when beckoned
instead preferring
to take me from behind
with a knife
a slice of wisdom
across the throat

My muse
does not believe in gentle ways
she believes in
the old ways
of human sacrifice
that nothing good
comes without a price

Excellent, really fine piece of work. "Slice of wisdom across the throat" - love that - pure genius!!

This is awesome! I really enjoyed this. It reminds me of the times I fall asleep with a new piece on my mind and I am just too tired to get up and put it on paper, and by morning, I forget. Great write.

Your muse sounds like many others and my own some days. I like this different way you have of writing about this. You do not romanticise your muse but make her seem violent yet creatively caring in a sinister way. This is very good.

This is nice, Tev. I especially like the "take me from behind/a slice of wisdom/across the throat" part.
