SOMETHING TO BE

Todays media seems intent on labelling everyone as 'something'.

Or is it just that people want to call themselves something to quench our need to belong to a group?

For me the most annoying thing is the whole gay/straight debate. I would really love to know why we aren't, as a society, open to the merit of a persons character? Is gender really that important?

It is no wonder that many people think love doesn't exist. When approximately 50% of the population is discredited due to their gender, we are unintentionally limiting ourselves, and making it harder to 'connect' with the person who might just be perfect for us.

Or does this view just make me bi-sexual?

A few of my friends are gay and most of them fight for their rights but at the sametime they live within the "NORMS" of life. I think we focus more on what we can never truly answer. That way no matter what we say it can always be changed down the road by someone else the next day. America "the world" loves to dispute with everything that unfortantly is human nature. NO matter how much we say we are peace we will always turn our heads to listen to gossip or a good fight.

I never did want to be labeled myself but you know someone out there in society has for sure already placed a label right across my ass.

I think it's easier to focus on sexuality than on the melting of the ice caps and essentially the end of our lives as we know it. The media is a band aid covering up the bloody masquer that our country perpetuates under the guise of freedom and peacekeeping. punkfairydoll

I agree with your points about today's society frowning upon people for stupid reasons such as being gay, but i thought that comment about love was a little bit harsh. Good thoughts overall though. something to think about!

Interesting points there but for me there are different levels of love. I love my car but not as much as I love my motorcycle. I love my cat but not as much as I love my dog. I love my wife and kids but not as much as I love Jesus. Like my writing, my mind breaks things down to simpliest form so I can understand things.

So to turn this into relevance to your blog, I love my friends (guys and girls) but not in a sexual way which is another level of love or lust. It seems a lot of the population is bent on sex and lust. Movies, commercials, ads, magazines, it's unescapable. So are people in love or in lust? That is the real question and it's not a real easy answer.

Interesting thoughts on Something To Be. For me I want to be honest and caring and thoughtful. Those are labels. Good labels. :)

i so agree! i mean, why can't we leave the bisexuals or gay people alone? it's NOT their fault and there's nothing wrong with it.
