Thoughts on The Son of Man by Rene Magritte

The apple tree stands
in a bland grey suit
and a bland grey hat
against a bland grey sky;

the face is obscured
by our lovely sin:
Eve's apple of knowledge,
Eve's apple of banishment.

God doesn't see us
as the individuals he crafted;
all he sees is our beautiful
deterrent to personification.
