Cleaning Up

The custodian took down the sun
the week before last
set about removing the bulb
to save energy.

Someone ripped open your shield
and we saw the incisions
of a marked man's fatal attempt.

Too much duct tape, you said
you wouldn't die
not with staples in your flesh
and rope holding your head.

The custodian set a ladder
against the sky
climbed up and turned off the moon
to save energy.

I ran across the field
knocked down the ladder
it was funny to see him fall
but I hate to admit it, friend'

The stars shattered in my path.

This is a very interesting piece. I like the metaphores and flow. There's a degeneracy in this toward the sun, moon and stars that give it a strong voice. Yvylyn
