A Pussy's Philosophy on War
Tired of being the receptor of the sword
I want to march into battle, guns drawn
blazing fear into every man who crosses
the pussy hiding between this woman's legs.
I want to be the hardened
general leading troops into battle
give ME balls! I have earned them
surviving invasion after invasion-
Ahh, remember
the strength, the control, the surrender?
Wait! I cannot afford to reminisce
not at a time like this.
I must learn to assert my independence
to maintain this female erection.
Step aside, you foul-smelling flunkies
time for a change in strategy.
Fuck them 'til they're too tired to fight
subdue them as they dream.

for Kpotter.
First off, thank you for reading my poem and taking time to leave such a detailed comment. You are right about a lot of things here, but that one particular line, I am up to defending. The line about "reminiscing."
Yes, of course, the female is unsure, given her role in society for so long, she looks back upon the "good ole days" ( sarcasm here) when she had no responsibility other than fucking and bearing children and being a man's property. yes, responsibility is huge for a man and I understand that. But still, she realizes that men are not doing such a good job so far and maybe, just maybe, if given the chance, well, hell, she couldn't do much worse, could she?
I understand the disposition of manly states, having balls, being able to impregnate, what does a woman have, realistically, to compare that with? and I am not merely referring to childbirth here, that is an awesome responsibility, I know, I have two daughters, one who is a very gifted writer here.
I do appreciate your comment, your take on the poem. I appreciate all of the comments that have been left on this work. It has its strengths and weaknesses, but it got people to open up, to respond and that is a wonderful thing, regardless of the content of the comment versus the content of the poem.
I consider it a successful poem simply because it garnered such a response, wouldn't you?
Thanks again for your time and articulate kind comment. I hope to have time to get around to reading your work very soon
hugs

do you know about Lysistrata? She was the opposite type of Feminist power- instead of fucking them till they fight no more, keep sex from them until they make peace with each other!
I feel almost like the woman is so intermingled with the body of a man- that she wants balls, that she has an erection etc. that this isn't actually feminist. It seems more like a mixed up idea that feminism can be perceived as becoming more like men.
"I must learn to assert my independence" sounds kind of mocking to me. In fact the entire thing is definitely mocking War and men's nature... but also mocking women trying to fit into that. Even the speaker cannot fully commit to it, because she returns to "reminiscing" about sex in a much different way.
The last line feels a little faded to me. It is like all of a sudden her strong powerful voice has gotten extremely quiet and hard to hear. But its such a sudden change, especially after using the word "Fuck" in the line above it.
Cool, I enjoyed it thanks. |

Well it wasn't what I thought it was going to be... But.. I really loved it. Great flow and rythm. The touchy subject of anatomy be damned. In todays day and age. My children whom sadly aren't teens yet are exposed to worse.

You've gotten a lot of really positive feedback, so I won't bore you with that. Obviously, it's a good poem. And despite what some folks have written, I think it's great that you use "vagina" in your poem. I mean, seriously... male or female, anatomy parts need to be celebrated. And women's voices have been muted for way too long... anyway...
Constructive feedback. Or maybe it's more philosophical. I notice in your poem that all the signs of power in the poem are essentially masculine. Give me balls - I've earned them. But doesn't that continue to give power to men? Why not assert the power of the female anatomy itself... though "female erection" is evocative.
And also, is patriarchy to be overcome by sexuality? Fucking men, as they've so often fucked women?
Or are men in some other way to be overcome? Women, or womyn, some prefer, might have power beyond this age old mould women have been shoved into.
Well, so this is just one reader's thoughts. |

I think the whole concept of females battling for power has occured, and there is more strength in a smart, good looking woman than strength in an insecure macho male worried about his manhood. You've fought the war and the war won; individuality, power, recognition are yours for the asking.
Well, you've certainly charged into battle; the balls on the walls are proof.
Excellent portrayal of a "taboo" topic...Dan |
