CivilizedNation

Watching the news
Poison our views
Paranoia grew
Nurtured by few

This world is great; panic and fear for all
So much to hate; let me answer the call
No time to wait; riding the eye of the squall
Doomed to its fate; Damocles blade will fall

Reading the cries
When the truth dies
A wellspring of lies
For a Pulitzer Prize

This world is cool; no one left to believe
So much to rule; with my hate on my sleeve
It's gonna be cruel; 'cos we've got no reprieve
Burn down the school; before the teachers can leave

Got no more fight
Let me run free; I'll get rid of your pain
My passion is trite
I'll make you see; my conviction won't wane
Nothing seems right
Answer my plea; let me take the reign
No end in sight
Just let it be; and you'll finally feel sane

It's finally begun
Time for some fun
Now I've finally succumb
To this civilized nation

This is a well structured piece and is full of insights that nobody wants to discuss anymore. I don't watch much television for that very reason, I pause commercials and limit what I read in the "news."
The school system has given away their rights of teaching to those that sponsor them since our taxes barely do.
Great writing! Yvylyn

Definitely 'burn down the school'. Too much conditioning going on. Too much controlling. Stop believing the media....they only want your money from their sales. Some good lines by you. Thanks.

So much to rule; with my hate on my sleeve

Great line. One of many, but definitely my favorite, and the beginnig of your poem is one of my favorite subjects: how we're ruled by the media. Bunch of sheep. As Stevie says, I like angry. :) T. xo

3rd stanza definitely my favourite here, though I also love the lines "So much to rule; with my hate on my sleeve" and "Burn down the school; before the teachers can leave".

Nice one. I like angry.
