Dear Macaroni Cheese

Dear Macaroni and cheese,
Your box lingers in my cupboard
Many before you given a gruesome death
The water sits on the stove
Boiling, anticipating
Ready to cook you
Noodles expand and plump
Strain the water from you
And breathe in the box-ly aromas
Oh how I love boxed dinners
Add a dash of milk
Obnoxious amounts of butter
Tear open your little cheese packet
And pour it on in a clump of orange
Mix it up and feel my mouth water
Separate bowls for me and my sister
Pepper for me and a glass of milk
Shovel a spoon full of noodles
Let the taste linger for only a split second
Oh, how I love your gruesome death

Nice poem. I am a fan of the mac and cheese, but not the Kraft cheese package type. It's just tacky and screams latchkey kid! But I liked the poem nonetheless. It reminded me of when my sister and I were home alone and cooking food was kind of like a project - we made it a very big deal! Congrats on publication!

Cool--I see why it got published. Congrats. I don't like mac and cheese, but I was sure glad my kids did.

Boiled to death with cheese for your pleasure. I have not had Mac and Cheese for a long time but I enjoy it, especially with bacon bits (mmm mac and cheese and bacon!) Liked the poem. Congrads on getting it publised.

Ha ha, I did like this a lot! To be pretty honest, I have a deep and passionate loathing of mac and cheese (oh God, does that even give me a right to comment on this, if I'm not an M n C lover?) but hey, this gave a whole new perspective for me =D I like the idea of the mac and cheese actually being alive, and you could probably have a lot of fun experimenting with some very cultural foods which magically (and quite freakily) sprang alive -- and Isjones, I love the idea of the screaming noodles, that's wicked stuff!

By the way, liked your profile lol! I like little random words all pieced together. And yeah, the cold side of the pillow does sort of rock.

Thank you for the read ! (The poem I mean, but hey, thanks for the profile too I guess !)
