she only left a letter

She thought to herself
I cant take this anymore
As she put the knife up to her wrist and made a single cut
For when he left her
On that cold Autumn night
When they had that stupid fight
She was only trying to make him see the light
Even if the difference was slight
Any change would be an improvement from the way he was that night

So she wrote him a letter saying goodbye-
You always thought you were right
You used to be such a delight
If only my friends hadn't given me that incite
About the girl you stayed with that night
I had seen you invite
Several girls over night after night
I tossed and turned until morning lite
I convinced myself you were just being polite
But all of those girls stayed overnight
I only stayed because when we met I felt that fire ignite
Maybe some day we can reunite
Maybe you'll change so that one day we might
Have another night like last night

She had written her letter and she could hold on no longer
But she wondered would they ever be together
If she hadn't't made that little cut could they have worked things out
To where they wouldn't't scream and shout
That was something she had come to doubt
But she new he was some thing she could not live without
So she lay the note down beside her and slowly closed her eyes
Now it was time to say her silent goodbyes

She left only a letter
No broken hearts behind
She was never one to jump right in she usually stayed back
He was the only one that might be hurt
But he no longer cared he was moving on so now all that happened was gone
She did it all to prove a point but he simply didn't't get it
And now it seems
It was all just a dream
That she cannot wake up from
But still she only left a letter
