What Are Rainy Days For?

The rain fell outside the windows
As the small boy watched
'What are rainy days for?'

'Rainy days are for smiling and playing,'
His mother told him,
'For washing the world clean,
And helping the flowers to bloom.'

The rain fell outside the windows,
As the boy in college watched
'What are rainy days for?'

'Rainy days are for smiling and napping,'
His lover told him,
'For sleeping the day away,
Cuddling until the sun returns.'

The rain fell outside the windows
As the young man watched
'What are rainy days for?'

'Rainy days are for smiling and hugging,'
His wife told him,
'For relaxing to the sound of hearts,
And so we appreciate the sun.'

The rain fell outside the window
As the old man watched
'What are rainy days for?'

'I know what days of rain are for,'
He spoke to himself,
'Rainy days are best spent
As the sunny ones are:
In Love.'

I love this. It's uplifting and peaceful, and the simple things involved with the rainy days make it just that little bit better :]
