Ode to Mario Kart
With small green shells a-twirling,
And red ones to soon follow after,
'Tis mushrooms we need,
That burst of speed,
To check our opponents' laughter.
Ahead in the road I see yellow,
Banana peels for sure!
I skid to the right
Avoiding the plight
Of a sticky and slippery detour.
A lightning bolt splits the sky!
My tiny characters squeak!
Our high-pitched cry
As flattened we lie
The outcome now looks bleak!
At last! The coveted blue shell!
The first place team is mine!
From my hand it sings,
With magical wings,
To fulfill my intentions malign.
A bob-omb in the road ahead!
No time to swerve away!
I cover my eyes,
Hear my characters' cries,
Of their explosive delay.
The finish line is in sight!
Salvation so wonderfully dear,
If it weren't for the fact,
That on this track,
I have six more laps to clear!
