To Roxanne

A tiny glimmer of joy
in an overpowering shadow
An angle of a smile
breaking through a vacuum of despair
A sefirah of grace
among broken vessels of mortality
The root and mystery
of a wandering soul
A final triumph
of nothingness
The anchor of humanity
in the valley of the shadow of death
...the unending cycle of creation
and destruction.

As I die
You live
As you live
I live
As I live
we evolve
and the spirals
go on forever.
