Untouchable Freedom.

Have you ever noticed a kite?
How it soars up in the sky,
Changing speed and direction,
Depending on the air.
Well, that's how I feel,
Unsettled,
Liable to change.
Soaring high one minute,
Playing within the clouds.
Flying low the next.
Yet, always on a leash,
Not able to be free.
When too much freedom comes my way,
To be reeled back in,
And put away,
Trapped.
Back within the cupboard,
Within the shadows,
Waiting for the next time,
To play.
The next time,
I'm almost free.

the line 'well, thats how i feel' was my favourite line!
poignant, beautiful, sad.

it would be interesting to note how too much freedom..letting the kite go would lead to possible destruction of it..the kite's purpose would be lost.

The only thing I possibly disliked about this poem was the line "Well, thatâ??s how I feel". To me, it didn't really fit with the rest. But the story was quite satisfying, as someone above me said

A perfectly chosen image, Joanne, and one which you exploited to the full. You followed the thought through, leaving the reader feeling satisfied. A very complete poem, and one that resonates - you've said something true about motherhood and the human condition, I think.

Thanks for sharing.
