Cat in a box

I was a cat in a box
I was happy in the box
everything was going great,
I had everything I had ever needed
or wanted.

A place to lay my head
four walls either side of me
and if I wanted to look up
and take stock of what was around me
I could.

I was a cat in a box
until you put the lid on the box.
Maybe thats what you needed
in order to make the box complete.
I don't know

I didn't ever need to leave the box
until you took away the option
when you put the lid on the box
then I knew I had to get out.
Sorry.

Wonderful! I can really identify with this. I don't need to fly -- unless I'm told to stay put. I don't have an overwhelming urge to go for a drive -- unless my car isn't there.

It's funny how the grass always seems that little bit greener when it's out of sight.

Cat.

Perfect. Why is it they love boxes so much? The last stanza is wonderful. I can "hear" a cat reciting this, which really should probably frighten me. T.
