One Angel

She's stood to watch the sky
On every other lonely night
But somehow the sky
Is missing her this time

She's finally given up
On her childish fantasies
And she's finally given up
Because dreams are only dreams

If heaven can spare one angel
To smile down on the world
Could they not send an angel
To a lost and lonely girl?

She's waiting for a miracle
And now does not believe
That miracles exist at all,
At least not for you and me

She's tired of waiting for
An angel she's not sure
Will ever be worth waiting for
Or at least, not for her

If heaven can spare one angel
To smile down on the world
Could they not send an angel
To a lost and lonely girl?

Very emotional visions...I have been that lost and lonely girl. Wish I could have had this poem to help me through high school and college. Heck, it's helpful now. You have a way of letting the reader in to seeing your vulnerability and sadness.

It sounds like a Sarah McLachlan song, and reminds me of a friend I had in college a few years ago. She had gone down the same road, and I wish I could have given her this verse to give her a deep breath. This seemed to be a deep breath in general, but also with a tinge of wishful thinking, like you were trying to say "This person needs your help", like a prayer.

This had a good rhythm to it and I liked that you repeated the third stanza. I also liked that it seemed to end the thoughts of two stanzas both times. Great job. Yvylyn
