Your Dreams

Sometimes, I watch you sleep..
Did you know, that sometimes, I stay up,
On the rare occasions that I can catch you asleep.
When you are so exhausted from the toll
That insomnia takes on your body,
Your emotions,
Your life
Sometimes I watch you sleep'¦
Watch you dream and follow your smile
I stroke your cheek and kiss your fingers
Wondering if its me you dream of
Knowing its her you are seeing,
When your eyes finally close.
Sometimes, I watch you sleep'¦
Listen to the soft hum of your breath,
The sighs that you release in your dreams,
The flicker of your eyelids in the deep sinking
Sleep that you finally have
I hold your hand, and run my fingers through your hair
Burying my face in the beautiful strands,
That hold a scent all its own,
Your scent.
Sometimes, I watch you sleep'¦
Did you know, that when you finally fall from the high
You are on,
I watch you dream.

Wow, this is a great poem describing the most intimate of all human interactions--sleep. Complete vulnerability of unconsciousness treated with reverence and love. Perfect!

I loved this. It reminds me of my favorite line from Neruda: "You touch my chest while sleeping and trees bloom in my dream." They are counterpoints to each other. Two opposite of the same event.

Awww. I can feel the pain here. To love someone who doesn't love you.

On a couple of places you wrote "its" instead of "it's".
