I Keep Forgetting
Did the shadows of this room
Ever seem alive to you?
But I keep forgetting--
You'll play with shadows, won't you?
Did the starlight on the moon
Ever seem unreal to you?
But I keep forgetting--
You know that too well, don't you?
Did the ocean's lonely blues
Ever seem this sad to you?
But I keep forgetting--
You're singing them, aren't you?
Did the heaven we pursue
Ever seem so far to you?
But I keep forgetting--
You can't answer me, can you?

I like the repitition in this as well. I just think you could go a little further with it. It holds a lot of philosophy in it (although I don't think you meant to do that) and the analogies drawn are limitless. Good write!

wow! it's the questions you've asked that leave me speechless--the impossiblitity of love, the unattainable, untouchable, so close and always just beyond reach. your repetition of 'i keep forgetting' comes across so strong, making this poem seem so much like a very sad love song. thank you so much for posting--how did i miss this one?
