textbook suicide (yawn)
the tired ballad of the razor blade and pill
still gives the cowardly a vicarious thrill
put your make-up on to go kill yourself
catcher in the rye displayed on your shelf
you hurt so much because you're strange and weird
you felt this way since your first spot appeared
and how on earth can you get rid of the greasy hair?
yeah, hang yourself it's the only option there
your teenage crush turned out to be a flash in the pan
you're 15 you can't afford to wait for a better man
you tear the poster of your pop idol in half
and no one could accuse you of a studied cynical laugh
you are genuine for sure -- of course you are real
you write it in marker pen because razor cuts don't heal
you're depressed because mom withheld the allowance today
and the bottoms of your best jeans started to fray
isn't that enough reason for you to have to decide
that the only way out is textbook cry-for-help suicide?

| Nice and honest - very true a lot of the time - I deffintley come from an area where 'shit of get off the pot' is the main idea - sometimes I think that's not too bad of a way to think - a great, sharp write. |

Great title, great content, just a harsh topic. There are always the cry-for-help suicides, but there are genuine problems people face that render them searching for an escape like death as well.
Your sarcasm and humor lightened this up (a little) but it is still a hard subject for some to see the reason to laugh. Great write nonetheless. |

| A wicked poem, so sarcastic and yet so true. I was grinning most of the way through. This should be required reading for all teens from Western civilization, ages 13-maturity. A pimple, a break-up, an old pair of shoes, having to stay home for one night out of 365 in one year, etc, it's not the end of the world. |

*giggles in a very evil manner*
I love this and you know why.
"the tired ballad of the razor blade and pill
still gives the cowardly a vicarious thrill
put your make-up on to go kill yourself"
I want those lines embroidered on a pillow! On the other side: O, poor pitiful me. Bah. Perfect poem, and I love when you write from that tiny part of your heart that holds your anger. You make about 200 good points in your poem, and considering it's 172 words, that's GREAT, TREMENDOUS writing. T. xoxox |
