Pavement Chicken

Pavement Chicken

I'm duckin' 'n divin' 'n dodgin'
Bastards on bikes I'm avoidin'.
I'm weavin' 'n windin' 'n twistin'
Pedestrian rage I'm resistin'.
They plot my demise 'n mean it,
I've looked in their eyes 'n seen it.
Playin' pavement chicken,
Slow pace starts to quickin'
Head on collision unstoppable,
Avoidance nearly impossible.
I dive left into someone beside me,
I can see that they now despise me,
I get bumped from someone behind,
I'm stumped 'n I'm feelin' blind.
I'm gettin' jostled 'n shoved 'n elbowed,
Tumultuous tantrum about to be thrown
A passive pedestrian actin' crazed
I need to control my pavement rage.

Brilliant! You might convert me to the rhyming word yet. This piece feels like it has had more time and energy spent on it than the Rant of an Irishman, and the subject matter illicits empathy from everyone. A very appealing piece. :)

I loved this. You've capitalized on road rage and made it quirky and wrote it with a good pace and flow. Good job. ~ Yvylyn
