She who was shot before her first breath

My head hurts, momma.
It always hurts when the weather gets cold.
Why does it hurt, momma?

Momma, why are all my friends in school smaller than me?
They don't call me Megan like a friend.
They call me Aunt Megan, Momma.

How come you look older than their mommas, momma?

Why do my friends speak so clearly momma?
Why can't I speak clearly momma?
Why do they find it so much easier to read?

Why can't I read, momma?

Papa, where are you, papa?
Momma, where's papa?
Do I have a papa?

All my other friends in school have papas.
Their papas play with them and laugh with them.
Their papas buy them candy and take them to the zoo.

Papas look like fun, momma.
What happened to papa, momma?

I'm sure papa will come soon.
My friends say papas go on business trips a lot.

Papa'll come back, momma.
I wanna see papa.

Why are you crying, momma?
Please, momma, don't cry...

You don't look nice when you cry, momma.
Smile!

Like me.

=)

Aww, momma, I like it when you hug me.
You're nice and warm.

You make me feel all happy and fuzzy-like inside.
Yeah, momma, don't cry.

Here, the teacher gave me a sweet today.
She gave it to me 'cause I won the potato sack race today.
But you can have it, momma!

Mick is always the second-best potato sack racer.
He asked me, "How come you always win, Aunt Megan?"
I was scared. I thought he was angry.

But then he asked,
"Will you teach me if I gave you
Half my snickers bar, Aunt Megan?"

And then I taught him.
Now sometimes I win, sometimes he wins!
We're both happy now.
Actually, sometimes I let him win!
It's nice when he smiles and laughs and goes all crazy!
He likes to put his shirt over his head and run around.
He's very funny.

Yay, you're smiling now.
When you smile, momma, I smile DOUBLE inside!

So smile more, okay?
I'll do my best to make you smile,
Then you won't have to worry about making me smile too!

I'm so smart, huh?

All the boys in school gave me flowers today, momma!
Did you know it was Valentines Day?
They made me so happy.

The boys all gave me flowers,
And the teacher played the guitar!
Mrs McCambell looks so cool when she plays the guitar.

She wrote a song, too,
She sang it with all the girls!

After the song, all my friends came to give me a kiss!

You know Jimmy?
That naughty boy who called me old last year?
He was the nicest of all!
He wrote me a nice sweet letter, to say sorry.
And he used his favorite crayon, too!

Why are you crying again, momma?
How come you can cry and smile at the same time?

Are you half-happy, half-sad, momma?
Are you sad because my friends love me and don't love you?

Don't worry,
I love you, momma.

=)

......

A sorta half-poem, half short-story kinda thing. Haha. Don't know why I always seem to like writing these "two-sides of a coin" kinda things, nowadays...
Very casually written, comments are very much welcome and appreciated but remember that no real thought actually went into this. Haha. Like most of my other stuff.

Well, that was odd. You and your emoticons . . . ^_^
Hmm . . . it's really uneven, I think. (by the way, cheeeating to use Aunt Megan again, hee). The tone came across really well of the innocence or naiviety, but it was really repetitive. pretty cute, though.
