Paint my own picture

Is it true or
Is it just me?
A picture is worth a thousand words
But what if you can't see?

What if the colors have run
Or faded with time?
What if it's just surreal
And not sublime?

Can I just paint
My own picture instead?
I really don't know how to draw
But I have this image in my head

Its colors can shift
And change from day to day
Sometimes it is the brightest of blues
And some days it's the dullest of grays

But dammit, it's my picture
Not genius, not beautiful, but true
It came from the pigments of my life
And my sorrow and joy is its hue

So is it true
Or is it just me?
It may not be worth a thousand words, but it is mine
Wanna see?

A decent enough poem about the self. Perhaps some images of these different paintings you have in your head would have been good, or some thought on the paintings in your head being a reflection of what you see. The sense of uniqueness comes across well, pulled together in the 5th stanza.
