When It Rains It Pours

A pirouetting fist of vaporous mist,
transformed to an ominous cloud
Lightning persistently tore it to,
millions of coalesced drops.
A pearl gray curtain unfurled
between the earth and the sky
whilst thunder, deep-throated chuckled,
its sonorous goodbye.

Earth's parchedness was obsolete,
a listless memory erased
Ugly surface cracks turned into,
myriad frolicsome streams.
Optimistic roots, long interred woke,
Heaving sighs of relief
Emerald would soon permeate,
each niche and every crevice.

This searing grief, too, must endure,
till those first drops usher in,
Release, in the heartening song of rain
then, watch it really pour . . .

I like how this is really about a torn soul but you don't find it out until the last staza. "Earth's parchedness" - very nice! I agree with umaisha - the imagery is quite vivid and brings easily to mind days and places just like the one you describe.

Little wonder Teri, that water bit. Being an Aquarius, I guess reflects somewhere. Thank you for your kind critique.

I love the different images here: mist, cloud, drops, streams, rain. It's all water. :)

"Searing grief". Nice phrase that describes so much and something felt by all too many people. Again, very good work. T.
