The Man Who Never Went Home
He opens his mouth but nothing comes out
The women hate him, but the men cry with him
Every memory seems to burn
The love he held so close, has cut right through him
His memories come crashing to the floor
And for each one that is gone, there are a dozen more that crush him
He is filled with thoughts of those gone
The mistakes he made
The words he shouldn't have said,
and the ones that he didn't
The regret in his voice is enough to haunt every soul,
But to those that listen carefully, it sounds a little bit like love.
(he isn't drinking alone anymore)

| I thought it was a confusing and weird poem... that I couldn't really get behind until the second to last line and last line. They pulled it together for me. |

| I agree with Yvy regarding that line. I think it would flow well to remove it. I can relate to this piece in the way of watching life and love slip past at a time when you've fallen from your own devices. It's a heartfelt piece, full of regret, and well-written. |

"The words he should have said,
and the ones that he didn't" ~ Aren't those one and the same? Words he should have said meaning he didn't say them... |
