I never really have the right words
When I'm sitting here staring
At a blank page

I have all these things I want to say
All these images in my head
That keep poking me to be let out

But I sit just sit here
And type out the words that come
But they never seem to fit

Not the way I want
Not the way my dreams would make them
Not the way my heart would make them

All these little pictures
All these little thoughts
All these little hopes and failures

Oh some of them work
Every now and then
A little burst of inspiration

But most of the time
I just feel like an old cliché
Close, but no cigar

It's hard and frustrating
To know that sometimes I actually have
Something to say

Something that you might find true
Something that might make you laugh
Something that might make you cry

But it never feels quite right
Like the tip of my tongue
Is trying to lick the tip of the iceberg

And here I sit
Staring
And the words are off hiding
