For My Baby Daughter

There was once a time I doubted
My wish would come to be
But all of that had changed
The day God sent you down to me
Oh sweet how much I love you
The words I cannot choose
To show the world how much I feel
What clear way can I use
The music of your laughter
The twinkle in your eye
The happiness I'm feeling
It makes me want to cry
I watched you take your first steps
You stood when you fell down
The spirit that I see in you
Will never let you drown
What did I do to deserve
This precious little one
You brought me back my dreams
And the sweet warmth of the sun
As I watched you play today
You turned to me and smiled
I sensed the love you have for me
My heart, my soul, my child

(I wrote this when my daughter was 1, she is now almost 5)

What a wonderful poem and celebration of the love btwn mother and daughter. This will be a great thing to keep for your daughter - maybe make a little scrapbook/journal to give to her when she goes off to college or moves out.

Aw, this is adorable! There's so much adoration here, I'm calling my daughter right now to tell her I love her. I miss her being young. Wonderful poem, Voula! I hope you read this to her over and over. T. xox
