All I ever had
There's a little bit of darkness
And a little bit of light
In this strangest of dreams
In which I live tonight
I am the shadow
Extending my hand in a plea
Please, can't you help
To take this darkness from me
Just a word, just a look
Just a soft and meaningful glance
To shine a small glimmer
Of the hope of a chance
Whisper those words
That sing so sweetly
Please say them soon
Before my own darkness swallows me completely
So I stand in the corner
Of my own imaginary vision
Trying to break free
Of the heavy weight of indecision
I need a beacon
A quiet, simple thing
A few lovely words
That will let my heart forever take wing
See who I am
All the good and the bad
Take these words from me
In truth, they're all I ever had
