When upon the past reflected
All the times by man rejected
You set the fate now expected

At your death I didn't care
It had been long since you were there
Your passing wasn't hard to bear

I think about you now and then
It's hard to recall if and when
You were proud to call me kin

Gone long before you ever died
Why was it that you never tried
Did you wonder if I cried?

One thing that I know is true
I was so afraid of you
About true love I had no clue

You never modeled love for me
So it was hard for me to see
Just how love was meant to be

Even so I still searched far and wide
Romantic ideals my only guide
But love was fated always to hide

So to myself I still must say
Foolish girl get on your way
There'll be no love for you today

Somehow I've never learned to hate
There are many ways to compensate
That dream of love is not my fate
