Amazing and Ferocious

Amazing and Ferocious
Thunder and lightning
Swirling and hurling from your throne
Sweeping with frightening speed across the crystal sea
When ignited by the word of praise
In my mouth, given voice by my heart
The sound of Hallelujahs
Echoes a choreography
Of heavens joy
Electrified, when we sing to one another,
Earth to heaven, heaven to earth

It's too much to fathom
That the one that sits
Before the river of fiery white glass
That crackles and spits
Is no describable form
Is the Spirit spinning and delighting in
Being delighted in
Clouds of incense fill the sanctuary,
The life breathed presence of God
Is edifying and magnifying
Transforming words of praise
The original of the ancient is at work
He is
No human knowledge of such reverence
Venerable, out of this world/'s
Realm of what is old.

His sheer power, force and might
Controlled, with pure strength
Yet always at peace
Pure Light
Incandescent color
Incomparable to human form and function
Indescribable to the human eye
Because it can not be fathomed
It is beyond reason or rhyme
This beauty knows no bounds

Essence to the spirit
It is its source
Sovereign
The seat of God in heaven
The Holy of Holies
A depth unknown
Unchartered, never fully gathered, understood and captured
Each glimpse a revelation far out weighing the one before
It is undeniable, a just is
Terrifically holy, mighty
Ruthless and merciless in its goodness, purity
It reigns over all
Regardless of whether we delight in it at all

Yet undisputed in its truth
The honesty of its majesty
Magnified royalty
The I Am, the Rock of Ages
Ancient of days
The Was, Is, and will always be
Worthy of all our praise
Dances when we sing
How He dances
When we praise him.

I am speechless - this is an amazing capture of the portrait of Christ in Revelations. I am inspired and humbled. Thank you.

You should post some of them, send them to me. You'd be surprised to find a majority of people out there actually feel that way. I think God can be challenged, He's surely big enough and old enough to take the heat. But hey, God is not mad at us, He's definitely not mad at you. I have lots of secullar poems as well.

I've got a couple of poems a bit like this, Selina. Well, not really -- the first one goes right over the top and challenges God to prove He's not nasty. And my other God poem is way, way over the top... I'd better not post them here, I might be lynched.
