Painting The Town

Painting the Town

Someone's missed the town
And splashed the sky instead,
Schlapping paint all around
In various shades of red.
This new alien colour
Greatly enhances the view,
Blending with the other
Different hues of blue.
Red begins where blue ends
The two are subtly mixed,
Eased together like forgotten friends
Leaving eyes transfixed.
They join in gentle orange
But the paint ain't fully dry,
The dripping blue destroying
The remaining red in the sky.
The greedy blue consumes
As it dries darker black,
Suffocates the redness bloom
Doomed, forced back.
Finally blue gloopy ink
Shines the colour of the dead,
Nighttime shades awaken instinct,
Time to paint the town red.

I like the imagery of the poem - the only thing, when red and blue mix, it makes purple, not orange!
