Words of truth are edged with gold
Lies are always bleak and dark
One against the other juxtaposed
What's right is clear and stark
Don't look into these eyes of mine
And think I'm fooled by you
This is how you deal time after time
And why your friends are few
You use them up and spit them out
Useless once they begin to see
You really aren't what you tout
That's only what you'd like to be
I can't help you any more
You've broken faith with me
Stomped on our friendship at the core
All I asked for was honesty
I can't watch you in this state
Knowing that you're going down
You are going to degenerate
In your misery you will drown
I'd like to keep some little part
Of who I thought you'd be
The person who once stole my heart
But nothing's left of you for me

Yeah, same person I'm afraid. Some people are very effective users and have learned to teach you to love them before they use you. Once you catch on it's very hard to extricate yourself. I am in that process now. It's a consolation to know I'm not the only one to be taken in this way.
Well, I hate to leave a similar comment on this one as your last one, but this genuinely does remind me of someone I used to know too! Perhaps these are types of people you are likely to encounter in your life at some point along the way. Very effectively written.:)
