Chapter 1, Meet Kaz Mo the Human
'Okay kid, what career do you want to choose?' the man behind the desk said to the 12 year old child in front of him.
There was a long line of other 12-year-old children standing behind the redheaded child the man was talking to. Many of the children looked excited and were too happy to stand in the same spot for too long. Few of them were nervous, yet they also looked excited. Except one particular child, instead, he was calm and somewhat bored. It was going to be his turn to pick a career after the three children in front of him went first. He was thinking about what career he should choose. Just as he was getting an idea, it was his turn already. He looked at the man in front of him. The man had very slender eyes- almost like Chinese type of eyes. They were the color gray, which matched his hair that was wild and tightly curled. His hair looked so messed up, that a comb would hit a strand of hair, and it would break as soon as it touched it. His lips were slim, and his nose was somewhat large- as large as a baby's fist. He wore a black vest with a black short-sleeved shirt under it. His pants were hidden behind the desk, but his boots were sticking out from under the desk. The boots were combat like boots that the army from the old days would wear- and, of course, they were the color black. He was busy writing something, and then he stopped and looked at the child in front of him.
'Last name please?' the man said.
His voice was deep and soothing, but scary at the same time.
'Mo' Spelled like M-O.', the child replied.
The man nods his head and opens the small drawer in front of him. Inside of the drawer was a small red button, he presses the button. A few seconds later, a folder appears out of the thin air in front of him, and stays floating in front of him. He takes the folder and opens it. He scans the contents inside the folder, and then he reads it out loud.
'NAME: Kaz Mo, AGE: 12, GENDER: Male, RACE: Black, WEIGHT: 100, and HEIGHT: 5'1.'
The man closes the folder and looks at Kaz Mo. Kaz Mo hair was jet black and reached the back of his neck, but it was neat and in braids. His eyes were brown, thin eyebrows, medium sized lips that were smooth, his nose was the perfect size and shape for a twelve year old boy, and his skin texture was dark brown. Kaz was wearing a gray shirt with bold black words that said 'LEAVE ME', and he wore gray baggy pants to match the shirt. Attached to the sides of his forehead was a small pair of headphone-like things. The man assumed it was a mindphone.
'My name is Mr. Rohead. What career or power is the more appropriate term to use, would you like to choose? Remember, you must choose carefully because it is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.'
Kaz folds his arms, looks at the ground and thinks. Mr. Rohead waits for a few minutes, but then he loses his patience.
'Look Kaz, it is getting late. It is right now 4:30, and it is getting a little chilly. Must I remind you that we are outside doing this- not inside a nice, warm and comfortable room. Also, we have thousands of other kids that want to pick a career. So please, hurry up.'
Kaz looks up and stares at Mr. Rohead.
'I don't know what career I want to choose. Can you please tell me what they are?'
Mr. Rohead sighs, and then he said, 'The careers are:
1. Ninja: In this career field, you will learn ninja techniques. Including disappearing, using different types of shurikens, healing spells from scrolls, and much more.
2. Wizard/Witch: You can choose to be an expert in the potion area or the spell (magic) area. If you want to be in an advanced area- you can pick both. In the potion area, you will study the mixture of potions and you will be able to tell them apart from others. And, of course, learn how to mix potions and ingredients to your advantage (like healing a wound). As for the magic area, you will learn how to say spells and to use them for defense purposes and healing purposes (using a wand). If you pick both, the techniques and learning procedures will be the same.
3. Shaman: You will learn how to contact ghosts, talk to ghosts, and solve their problems. Once you solve a ghosts' problem, you can use them to your advantage. Over time, when your skills are highly developed, you will be able to use souls that are still intact to living beings.
4. Pirate: You will learn how to use swords, how to navigate, how to cook, learn what to eat and much more. Once you learn the appropriate skills, you will be able to find different kinds of treasures. You can obtain a certain power, but it depends on what kind of treasure you find.
5. Elf: If you pick this career, your IQ will automatically reach 190. As an elf, you will be able to learn things more quickly. As an elf, you can be a fighter, healer, or both. As a fighter, you will learn how to use magic (without a wand), weapons, and your own hands and feet for defense purposes. As a healer, you will learn how to use herbs, magic, and instruments (like surgical instruments). Most doctors around the world are elves.
6. Ghost/Soul Hunter: In this field, you will hunt ghosts or souls that are causing destruction to the human world, the alien world, or the spiritual worlds. In order to hunt these ghosts or spirits, you must learn how to use special weapons. Once a ghost or soul has been 'modified', you can use them to your advantage.
7. Dragon Trainer/Raiser: As a dragon trainer, you will first pick a dragon, and then you will train with it. Depending on the kind of dragon you pick, their special abilities will be 'unknown'. As a dragon raiser, you will raise and breed dragons for future dragon raisers. On certain occasions, a dragon raiser may use the dragons for defense purposes.
8. Shifter: If you pick this career, you will learn how to transform into anything. After you master transformation, you will be able to transform and copy that living being techniques.
9. Swordsman or swordswoman: You will learn how to fight and defend with a sword. You'll be like a knight.
10. Samurai: You will learn how to fight with the katana, the wakizashi, and other Japanese type swords.
11. Angel: There is no point for you to pick this career. In order to pick this career, you have to be 100% pure-hearted. So far, there was no individual that was able to pick angel as their career. Their powers are unknown.
12. Psychic: You will learn how to use your mind to pick up objects from a distance, and read the future to a certain extent.
13. Element Master: You will master an element and use it to your advantage. You can only pick one. The elements are fire, water, plants, shadow, time, sand, or ice. In the beginning, you have to be in that environment in order to use that element. However, once you master the element, you can use the element power without being in the same environment.
14. Real Writer: Also called R.W for short. You will learn how to write something, and make it come to life. Many items in the world are made easily because of R.Ws'.
15. Kung-Fu Artist: You will learn how to do kung-fu techniques. Such as the Jeet Kun Do, the Tang Lang Ch'uan, the Dragon, the Tiger, the Leopard, and much more.
16. Magician: You will learn how to do magic, but not as well like wizards or witches. You can make things come out of your hat to use in battles for defense purposes or for other purposes. For example, if you take out a rabbit from your hat. You can use a spell to make the rabbit larger, vicious and command the rabbit to attack the enemy.
These are all the careers that are available. Now, which one will you choose?'
Mr. Rohead snaps his fingers and a bottle of water appeared before him. He takes the bottle and drinks some, and then he puts it down on the desk. Kaz puts his hands in his pockets and sighs. Mr. Rohead picks up his bottle again and drinks some more water from his bottle.
'I have decided to pick none of them.'
Mr. Rohead starts choking on his water and slams the bottle on the desk. He coughs a couple of times and then he stares at Kaz in astonishment.
'WHAT?! What do you mean you don't want any of these careers?! You're crazier then you look! Well, what about the ninja career or one of the elements as a career?'
Kaz shakes his head from side to side.
'No, I want to stay human. If I pick ninja, the teacher can throw a shuriken at me if I talk too much. If I pick one of the elements, the teacher can freeze me or burn me out of the classroom if I talk too much. Besides, once you pick one of those careers, life will be too different and odd for me. I rather stay as a human.'
Mr. Rohead shakes his head in disappointment. He opens the drawer to his right and takes out a phone. He dials a number and waits. When someone on the other end picked up, he told them to hold on for a second.
'Sorry Kaz, but you can't hear this.'
Mr. Rohead just points at Kaz and said, 'Time freezer on Kaz.'
All of a sudden, Kaz was frozen- time has stopped for him. He sees nothing, hears nothing, and feels nothing. Mr. Rohead gets back on the phone.
'So, what do I do with this human kid......? Send him in there'.. Fine by me.'
Mr. Rohead hangs up the phone, points at Kaz again and said, 'Time unfreeze on Kaz.'
Kaz was able to move again, but didn't remember a thing.
'Well, Mr. Rohead, where do you want me to go while you're on the phone?'
Mr. Rohead smiles and said, 'I already spoke on the phone. Just sit in that chair that is behind me.'
Kaz was about to say, 'what chair?', but then a chair appeared out of the thin air. He sits in it, and waits. He looks at the line and realized that there were a lot more kids then he thought. The line kept going and going, like clouds- there is no end to the line. The next child walked in front of Mr. Rohead desk. After a minute or so, the child decided to pick healer elf as his career. Since Kaz didn't pick a career, he was wondering what the procedures was in order to be an elf or any of the careers that any 12 year old child would pick. Mr. Rohead spun around in his chair, and reached his hand outward into the air. In a certain distance, it looks like nothing but air. But, when Kaz looked closer, he can see wavy heat-like rays coming from that certain spot where Mr. Rohead hand was at. Mr. Rohead takes out a clear flask that was full of some kind of purple liquid. Mr. Rohead turns around to face the child, and hands him the flask. Kaz smells the air, and he smells chicken. He knew that there was nobody outside cooking, so he figured it probably came from the potion in the flask. The child did the same as Kaz, and to him the potion smelled like popcorn. The child drinks the purple liquid potion quickly and somewhat greedily. Then the child coughed and spit.
'YUCK!! This tastes nothing like popcorn!'
Suddenly, he dropped the flask and fell backwards. He started rolling on the floor and screaming as though he was in pain. Mr. Rohead stood up quickly and jumped over his desk to get near the boy. Mr. Rohead kneeled, and then he quickly stood back up. He stretched out both his arms and opened his hands as wide as he could. Then, he shouted, 'TIME FREEZE!' As soon as he said those words, the boy all of sudden froze. The boy was in a horrifying position. His eyes were wide open and looked liked they were bloodshot. His back was arched forward, as if his back was in serious pain. Finally, his mouth was wide open due to his screaming. Mr. Rohead put his hands against his side and closed his eyes. His eyes were closed in a certain way though, as if he was concentrating or mediating, except he was standing up.
'TIME REWIND!'
Then, all of a sudden, time was rewinding, but only on the boy. It looked gross and disturbing. It was like rewinding a scary movie and showing the same scene that was seen just 5 minutes ago. The boy was doing everything backwards- screaming, rolling, falling back forward, the flask rejoined in his hand, and the purple liquid he drunk was appearing back in the bottle.
'TIME STOP!'
The boy had the flask in his hand with the purple liquid inside of it. It looked liked nothing had happened at all to the boy. He looked happy and excited like he previously did before he drunk the purple liquid in the flask. The boy obviously didn't remember what happened, because he was going to drink the purple liquid again. But before he even could get a drop of it, Mr. Rohead snatched the flask from his hand.
'You can't pick healer elf as your career! You're allergic to it! Pick another career!'
Mr. Rohead jumped back over his desk and sat down in his chair. The boy stared at Mr. Rohead in confusion, but also in fear. Then he asked quietly and politely, 'How do you know I'm allergic to it?'
'Because I just saved you a minute ago! Of course you don't remember, you're not supposed to!'
Mr. Rohead tossed the flask behind him, far away from Kaz and the other 'invisible' flasks. The flask hits the ground, the purple liquid vanishes, and then the glass from the flask also vanishes. After a minute or two, a guy with a black-hooded cape popped out of the thin air in front of Kaz. His face, hands, clothes, and feet were hidden. He turns his head towards Mr. Rohead and said in a raspy voice, 'Problem solved Mr. Rohead?'
Mr. Rohead just nodded his head in reply. Then the black-hooded guy turns his head towards Kaz, pointed at him (his hands not showing) and said in his raspy voice, 'Follow me.'
Kaz stood up and said, 'Where am I going?'
The man under the hood didn't respond, but walked straight. He stopped suddenly, and then he tapped his foot on the ground. A round, flat, blue light appeared from a portal platform. Kaz walks to it, and he asked the man again, 'Where am I going?'
'You're going to the CFL room.'
'WHAT!?!'
Before Kaz could ask any more questions or protest, the guy pushed him on the platform- and he was transported to an empty room. The room had nothing in it, except the one desk and chair (and a door). Kaz runs to the door and starts pulling at the knob, but the door wouldn't budge. Kaz slammed, kicked, and pushed at the door, but it still wouldn't budge. Kaz got tired of trying and decided to sit in the chair and wait. He looks around the room, and sees an electronic calendar on the wall. The calendar read, 'September 14th, 3010X; 6:00PM'. After waiting for 30 minutes, a guy walked through the door. He was short, stocky, and his clothes were weird. He wore a Hawaiian type of shirt with blue faded flowers on it, and he wore blue shorts that reached his knee. He had no hair, and he looked like he was in his late thirties. He was, obviously, Hawaiian.
'Hello Kaz! We heard that you decided not to pick a career because of certain reasons. So, we are going to-'
'I WANT TO LEAVE THIS ROOM NOW!!,' Kaz shouted as he abruptly stood up, knocking over the desk and sliding the chair back in the process.
The stocky Hawaiian man looked at Kaz, and then he laughed. Not a mocking type of laugh, but a cheerful laugh.
'Don't worry Kaz! I'm here to let you out and to tell you something. If you haven't interrupted me you might not feel as stupid like you do now.'
The stocky Hawaiian man cleared his throat and continued.
'As I was saying, we're going to let you explore all the careers! You will spend a month or so exploring all the careers. You will explore a career for two days and then move on to the next career and the cycle continues. Once you finish exploring the careers, you will pick one, hopefully. If you still feel that you want to stay human or normal, then you can. However, you still have to take 'The Survival Test' like everybody else. Other then that, you're good to go!'
The stocky Hawaiian man smiled and waited for a reply or question from Kaz.
'Survival Test? What is 'The Survival Test'?'
The stocky Hawaiian man laughs and said, 'You'll see! On the first day of school, which is September 16, the teacher will explain the rules, the final test, and other things.'
'Well, I can assume the homework must be hard, especially if the final test is called 'The Survival Test'. I can't imagine the piles of work I will get'.'
The stocky Hawaiian man laughs again, and said, 'HOMEWORK!? What have those stupid schools been doing to you children? There is no such thing as homework here or even tests- except 'The Survival Test'. Oh wait, I shouldn't have told you that' All well!'
The stocky Hawaiian man walked a little closer to Kaz.
'Do you have any more questions for me?'
Kaz nods his head.
'Yes I do. Where will I stay at, or do I go home? Not in this room- right?'
'You will stay in this building, but not in this small classroom'.. Or you can go home, either is fine. I suggest you stay in the building, because school is just two days away. That way you won't be late on the first day of school! Am I right?'
'I think I'll go home. Besides, who wants to stay in a school building all night? Also, you guys don't have the things I need- like a room for example.'
'WHAT!? Of course we have everything you need! You will have a large room to yourself! Inside of the room will be a closet full of different clothes, they're all new and clean mind you, and in you're size! Also, a bathroom is included, a computer and a laptop (the newest), a bookshelf full of different kinds of books, the oldest and newest game systems are included- like the World-Box 6,000, the SquareCube 900X, and the FunStation Pro, the oldest and newest games are included- like Last Fantasy 3000, a shelf of your favorite types of music CDs is included that are also already downloaded on the XP3 players and gPods, a shelf full of computer games is included, a TV is included- along with a DVX player, a video-cassette player, and a shelf of different kinds of movies, and-'
'Okay! I get it! You guys provided me with everything! Next thing I know, you'll tell me that a maid or servant will clean the room everyday for me.'
'Actually, a maid will clean or fix the room every 3 hours of each day. The servant will bring you a plate of whatever you want- including a whole pizza pie.'
Kaz sighs and said, 'Are all the school rooms the same?'
'Yes, except you have to share with one other student, everything in the room is doubled, and the room will be a little larger.'
'Well, I guess I'll stay and explore the place better tomorrow in the afternoon'.'
'That's good! Now, I am leaving right now. Someone else will come by the room and take you to your room.'
The stocky Hawaiian man walked out the door, but stopped midway and faced Kaz.
'Oh yeah! I forgot to give you your school ID card and watch.'
He puts his hands in his pocket and takes out a plastic card, and a watch that was glowing. He tossed them to Kaz, which he caught. The ID card had his picture on it, his name, age, gender, race, career- which said 'CFL', his room number- which also included where it was (what building), and the year of his studies was included- which read '1st YEAR'. As for the watch, the strap was black-Kaz favorite color- the glass part shape was square and a bluish light was glowing from it. The odd thing about the watch was that it didn't have any buttons.
'The card can be used throughout the building at any time and any day to get into your room and other rooms (except other students rooms). As for the watch, it includes the time and date, your profile with a picture- similar to your ID card, an alarm, some TV channels, the internet, an map of all the school buildings (it also includes an red dot of where you are), your schedule- in your case you don't really have one', a phone and phone book- to call people through the watch, an emergency contact list, a recorder, some music- you can change the music if you want- a calculator, a few games, and a tractor. There are probably more options on the watch, but I can't remember them from the top of my head'. In order to work the watch, you have to tell it what you want. For example, if you want to watch TV, just say 'Mini-TV' and a list of the channels will appear. From there, you pick what channel you want by the touch of your finger, and the screen will enlarge and play the channel. The watch acts like a projector, except you can see it without using a white background. If you want headphones included, you can see me tomorrow or some other staff member. As for the tractor, that isn't exactly a program, but we use it to know where you're at all times- for safety reasons. However, once you leave the school grounds, we can't trace you anymore. You can use it to locate a person, but you must have special permission before you can use it- the watch will confirm this. When you first activate the watch, it'll ask for a password. Once you enter the password, the watch is completely yours. The watch will recognize only your sound patterns and will not respond to other voices. So, I suggest you activate your watch in a quiet place when you use it for the first time. On the first day of school, the teacher will tell you the rest of how to work the watch.'
The stocky Hawaiian man yawned and coughed slightly.
'Now, I'm off! I got business to attend to!'
Just as he walked out the door, someone else entered. To tell you the truth, it wasn't even a 'someone' it was a something. It looked like a robot, a very old modeled robot.
'Good evening Kaz. I am robot number 3M and I will guide you to your room. Please follow me'..'
The robot turned around on its wheels and left. Kaz walked to the door, and found the robot in the hallway waiting for him. The robot started moving again, and Kaz followed. It stopped shortly in front of a door with the number 1 on it in gold. The robot left and Kaz was alone. Kaz opened the door, and a robot voice sounded through the air.
'ID?'
Kaz lifted up his card. The scanner from inside the room scanned the card, and made a click noise.
'Welcome Kaz. I am computer voice 'Kaz1' Please make sure you have your ID card with you at all times. If you lose your ID, please let a staff member and me know so a new one can be given to you and I can be reprogrammed for updates. You cannot enter without your ID card, if you do; I will sound the alarm and you will be trapped inside the room until the security team comes. If you are in need of any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask me. You may now enter the room'.'
Kaz entered the room, and it looked exactly the way the stocky Hawaiian man described it- it has everything you need. He put the watch on, and said, 'Time'. The watch responded, and the first thing it asked for was a password. Kaz thought for a minute, and finally said, 'Omzak. O-M-Z-A-K'. The watch confirmed it and showed him the time and date. It read, 'September 14th, 3010X; 9:00PM'. The watch kept showing the time and date- it didn't turn off. So, Kaz decided to try something, and he said, 'Off'. The watch turned off. Kaz was exhausted and too sleepy to play games or anything. His day was rough and he just wanted to sleep. He quickly took a shower, and changed into a black pair of pajamas. He walked to the bed. The bed was large, and looked like 'happy land' to Kaz right now. He jumped under the covers, clapped his hands twice to turn off the lights, and he automatically fell asleep. Throughout his dreams and his mind, he was wondering what the day will be like tomorrow.
