Why did you do it?
Held your life in your hands
No one could touch you
It was all your fault.
Lived life to the fullest?
What of it in death?
You left behind the world
That lived for you.
If you stopped to think
Of the life you destroyed
You would have seen
It hurt more than you.
'The next big thing'?
Too big for the people
Much larger than life
So you tested death.
Dipped your toe in the tepid
But held it too long
You lost your balance
You drowned in you.
If you didn't fall then
On that October night
You would still be here
As Hollywood's finest.

I've never seen a more heartfelt eulogy for a deceased hollywood star. Vague but good. I don't know if more direct examples of River's life are necessary here, or if it would even work.
