The Devil's Forum Ch. 4

Chapter 4.

'It's sooo boring in here!' Kimmi thought to herself. It was 11:30 a.m. in physics class. 'I'm going to sleep; I guess I won't have those dreams here in school.' And with that, she dozed off.
She looked around in a dark room, and she looked up at the clock, it was 11:35a.m.
She saw her father talking to a strange man. The man was tall, about 8 feet tall. He was quite robust as well. He had a slender nose, long, jet black hair, and piercing, snowy, white eyes.
Kimmi was too far away to understand what they were saying, so she inched closer, but all the while attempting to stay out of sight. Her father was yelling furiously at the man.
'...Sorry, but that wasn't part of the deal!'
'So?' said the man, 'You signed the contract, and it specifically stated that...'
'I don't care!'
Kim wondered what they were talking about, but at that moment....
'Ms. Yen!'
'Ms. Yen!!!'
It was Mr. Wilkes. Her combination of snoring and sweating disrupted her nap as well.
'Ms. Yen, what is the answer to number three?'
'Uuh, kinetic energy?' she asked.
'That would be right, or at least, would have three months ago while we were on that subject, or did you sleep through that chapter too?'
'Sorry sir.'
The rest of the day seemed to go the same way. She would sleep, have the dream that she was in was the exact same place, only the conversation and times would be different. And every time she tried to understand something or learn what they were talking about, someone or something would wake her up.
'This is getting old, I wanna know what's going on and what they're talking about.' she quietly whined to herself.
A few hours later, after school, Kimmi and Sean met at the Cold Grill restaurant.
'So Sean, did you read any relevant articles? About, well, you know.'
'Oh, you mean the ones about the women other than you with chronic PMS?' he laughed
'Ugh, you little bastard.'
Before Sean knew what hit him, he pelted with Kim's large slushy in his face.
'That was cold....both literally and metaphorically.'
'Serves you right.'
'Anyways, yeah, one of the devil's articles, I read one, this guy Sam McNeal was the guy that I read about.' Sean said as he wiped the cold slush off his face.
'Sam McNeal huh?'
'You know him?'
'No, but I do know that he is a super-rich tycoon that owns this and many other restaurants around America.'
'Well, do you remember that Alex guy; you said he had a weird mark right?'
'Yeah, why?'
'So does McNeal.'
'Hmm, do you think it checks out? Or do you think they are connected?'
'.......'
'SEAN!!!!!'
'Wha, huh, oh, I'm listening.'
'Whatever, you were looking at Beatrice Big-Boobs and pay attention to me!'
'Uh, ok.'
'Do you think they are connected?'
'Dun, both of them make deals and get what they want, both of them get marked up. What can scream obvious more than that?'
'I dunno, slim chance if they'd actually met the devil. I think he'd go after more special people. Why would he want these losers?' Intruded Bill
Both Sean and were appalled at the sudden intrusion.
'What the heck do you want?' Kimmi said with her fists balled.
'Dude, go away, we don't need you around right now, especially not after the way you pissed us off earlier.' Explained Sean calmly
'Look, I don't want to start anything, I just want to apologize for earlier.' He spoke.
'Too bad, I'm not in the mood to hear your crap!' Shouted Kim
'Yeah, figured as much.' Calmly replied Bill, 'how about this then: If you guys let me lend in a little insight, I'll buy you guys some steak for the both of you, on me.'
'Fine, whatever.' Kimmi had given up.
'You can hang around if you don't snap like you usually do. You have a knack for pissing us off....and next time I won't be so forgiving.' Sighed Sean. 'So, do you have anything useful at all for us?'
'Yeah, I just want to know why the Devil would the souls of just ordinary people, especially some of these losers. I don't get that.' Asked Bill.
'Same here,' said Kimmi, who was calm now while eating her steak, 'What's with all of these people. It's that he's using people who have screwed up lives, and is taking their souls. The only question is, why?'
'My question is why we are so involved in this. We're just ordinary high school teens.' Disappointedly asked Sean.
'Yeah, come to think of it, Kim, why are you so interested in this stuff?' curiously asked Bill.
Can you keep a secret, Bill? I only told Sean this, but every time I go to sleep, I have this same dream that I'm in a dark, dead forest. In that forest, I hear something calling for me, it's a dark, ominous voice. When I hear it, I just run. While I'm running, I see names grafted into trees. Thing is, I came across the names Alex Jones and Sam McNeal, two of the names that we came across on the internet. Is that good enough for you?'
'Yeah, I guess so.' Bill said, although he was still puzzled.
'Yeah,' inquired Sean, 'but why are we involved?'
'Because you two are my best friends in the world, and I'm the one with the dreams.'
'Oh, now we're best friends.' Sarcastically laughed Bill.
'Come on, don't be that way,' Kim laughed back, 'Seems that you and I are going to get along again.'

A few hours later, they decided to meet at the library for an extended discussion, and just to hang out and have fun.
'SSHHH!!!!! You're in a library!' violently whispered the librarian. 'If I have to tell you all again, I will have to ask you to leave!'
'Okay, sheesh, calm down old lady, we're just having a discussion.' Bill angrily whispered back. 'Besides, can you not see that couple making out over there, those children running around, and that suspicious guy over there!? Get off my case and deal with more important problems than us!'
'Shut up, Bill!' Sean muttered under his breath.
'Let this be your FINAL warning.' threatened the librarian again.
'Bill, just let it be, you can't win.' Apathetically spoke out Kim.
'Fine,' sighed Bill. 'You win this round, old fart, but I'll get you next time.'
Kim and the others studied for a few hours, until Sean felt he had enough.
'Yep, I'm completely bored, un-entertained, and I no longer care about anything, or anybody.' He sighed. 'If you need me, I am with Denise.'
'One,' Kimmi started listing, 'She rejected you last week, two, she has a man, and three, she's going to dump him to go out with Eryka.'
'Wha?' whispered Sean, 'She's a lesbian, and how did that happen?'
'How?' retorted Bill, 'She just came out of the closet, about 2 weeks ago.'
'Crap, why am I always the last to know these things?'
'Because, Sean,' laughed Kim, 'You're a loser, but you're our loser.'
'Our?' laughed Bill, 'You can have him, I don't want it.'
'Thanks guys,' Sean had given up, 'You're all so freakin' kind''
