The Devil's Forum ch. 8
8.
The four kids ran in the downpour. None of them said a word to each other on the way there. They were all scared, cold and confused. The dark streets and thoughts of death didn't help them either. The scent of the musty rain and wet grass filled the air, creating a more sense of intensity, than a sense of relaxation. Halfway there, Terra was starting to have second thoughts about going back.
'Hey, guys?'
'What?' Sean asked.
'I'm scared, I don't want to do this, I was his mangled body once, please don't make me have to look at that hideous thing ever again!' she cried aloud.
'Fine, I'll walk you home.' He said. He then saw a two large flood lights coming toward them. 'Who is that?'
'Hey, you guys look a little wet, need a ride?' asked a young girl's voice.
'Depends, who's asking?' demanded Bill.
'I'm disappointed; I thought you guys could recognize my voice. It's me, Eryka. Hop on in if you need a lift.'
'Thanks, we're heading to Bill's,' sighed Kim, 'Can you drop us off there?'
'What, you're not inviting me in?' she said.
'Can't, very personal.' Grimly said Bill.
'Sure, I'll drop you.'
'Eryka, can you drop off Terra at home first, she doesn't want to come with.' Asked Sean.
Again there was a total silence among the confused teens. First, she dropped off Terra at home; then, she turned around to head to Bill's.
'Kim, Bill?' Sean started to ask something.
'Yeah?' they responded.
'I hope'¦that you guys are ready for anything. This is not going to be pleasant.'
'Listen, we all stared death in the face not too long ago, and we're still here, so don't worry about it.' Bill stated.
'What are you all talking about?' Said Eryka, completely confused about what's going on.
'Nothing that concerns you, I don't you involved in this in any way.' Snapped Bill.
'Okay, okay. Fine, whatever, carry on.'
Five minutes later, they pulled up at Bill's house. It looked no different on the outside. Christmas lights were still strewn up since no one cared to take them down. Half the roof shingles were missing. Large patches of grass were either dead or overgrown due to serious neglect.
Kim, Bill, and Sean got out of Eryka's car, and slowly walked to the door. They all looked at each other anxiously. Sean nodded confirming he was going to be the first up, knowing what had to be done. Once he opened the door, they had seen one of the most horrible and hideous thing any of them had ever seen in any of their lives.
The first thing they noticed was the body. It was beaten, mauled and mangled. It was so bad even Bill couldn't recognize it. There were gashes, cuts, bruises and blood everywhere. One of the corpse's eyes was missing, and there was the foul scent of death looming in the air. The walls, which were usually an off-white color, was painted with the crimson glow of blood.
'Oh my God!' gasped Kim, as her face flushed white as a ghost.
'DAD!' Bill broke out into tears. 'I didn't mean for this to happen'¦I-I didn't wish for all this!'
'What the hell are you talking about!?' Snapped Sean. 'Are you telling me that you had something to do with this?'
'After he locked me out the house'¦I said to myself that I wanted revenge, I wanted something to happen to him'¦I just didn't expect something like this.'
'Next time,' Sean grabbed him around the collar, 'Be careful what you wish for!'
In the distance, Eryka was slowly getting out of her car and inching her way toward the house, and was quickly spotted by the already enraged Sean.
'Get back in the car!' he yelled at her.
'Wait, Kim, Look out!' Eryka yelled as she charged at the entrance to the house.
Kim quickly looked away from the body, regained her composure, and ducked out of a creature's way.
'Get down!' Eryka yelled.
BANG! BANG! Eryka released two bullets into the creature's head. It fell and hit the ground with such a loud thud, it shook the house.
'Is it dead yet?' she said as she began to reload another clip into her calico.
'Where the hell did you get that from?' Whimpered Bill; who was quite shaken from hearing the loud blasts from the gun.
'I'm a young girl who enjoys going on long walks and long rides, I need protection. Good thing I brought it too, or else Kim would be looking worse than him right now.' She said as she pointed at Bill's father.
'Okay, one, I told you to stay in the car! Two, how in the world can you remain so calm after seeing death and stuff?' said Sean.
'I used to hang around the hospital a lot, volunteered and stuff. I saw a lot of crap, so I'm pretty much used to it now.'
'Hey, it moved!' Cried Kim.
'Not for long!'
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! She released four more bullets into the beast, and it stopped moving. It was finally over.
'I'll call the cops, then, I want all of us out of here. Okay?' stood Kim, who was tired of being scared. 'I just want this to be over with.'
'Same goes double for me.' Trembled Sean.
'I'll be the one to stay and explain, the rest of you go home.' Boldly spoke Bill.
'But'¦' Kim started to speak.
'No buts, I'll handle it. Later guys.'
All the teens waved bye to Bill, and all started on their ways home.
