Elegy for John
The West Wind, like the day it filled
Argo's sails when homeward bound
Now echoes through a heart that's chilled
Today they laid your body in the ground.
But you, my friend, at last have reached that shore
Upon whose golden sands the waves e'er break
Life's percussive pains you feel no more
In that hidden grove you patiently on us now wait
In the time it takes to sing our earthly sullen hymn
Happily this mortal coil we too shall cast
Awakened from life's dream donning eternity's diadem
We'll sing your celestial song- parting forever past
