Bleeding Blackened Tears

Alone
in the depth of the night
she sits at the edge of her bed

trying not to THINK
trying not to FEEL

shadows
cursing her thoughts
haunting her
taunting her

pain
barges into the hollows of her soul
gripping her throat
stealing her breath
shaking her flesh

into the shadows she bleeds
blackened tears

shadows
that deceive her instincts
play games with her thoughts
faith in her feelings
shattered

into the shadows she bleeds
blackened tears

you were the last
she let touch the depths of her heart
you were the last
she let see her tears

you didn't care

into the shadows she bleeds
blackened tears

an oath passes between her heart and soul

she'll shut her eyes
so they can not see
into the depths of her heart
she'll shut her eyes
so they can not see
in her tears
the reflection of her soul
she'll shut her eyes
and close the doors
to the fragile, precious depths

she wraps her arms around
and holds herself tight
warming the chill in her bones
comforting her flesh

no more tears left to flow
bled dry and left empty
by the pain
