A Letter From Father Christmas

My Dear Sweet Little Jenna
----------------------------

A ho-ho-ho hello and a very Merry Christmas to you! Thank you so much for your list, I do so enjoy reading it every year!

I am usually giving the reindeer their Christmas bath when it arrives, but as soon as I see that it is here I drop everything and sit down to enjoy the read.

We bath the reindeer at Christmas time you see because they like to feel all shiny and clean before we set out on Christmas Eve. It's also a very useful thing to do as the dogs can't smell their scent so easily, and this don't bark and wake up all the children in the houses which they are protecting.

The Elves make a special shampoo that they call O Christmas Tree which makes the reindeer smell like Christmas trees. What a lovely smell indeed, one of my favourite smells in all the world!

I have heard that you have a new cat called Muffin. I have also got a new pet. It all happened when I came back from delivering the presents last year. After I had parked my sleigh in the barn, I walked up to my house -and what did I find there at the door-? a Polar bear cub. He was shivering from the cold so much that it took a full hour for him to get warm infront of the fireplace.

Mother Christmas gave him some fish to eat while she made our Christmas lunch (Polar bears eat fish you see) But he only gave it a few half-hearted sniffs before rolling over on his side and going back to sleep again.

Later while we ate our Christmas pudding he gently nudged my leg from under the table, and so I gave him some pudding. Not only did he eat that, but he ate three other helpings as well! So Mother Christmas and I have christened him Pudding -Pudding The Polar Bear- what do you think about that?

I have also heard from your Mom that you fell into the swimming pool with your bike. Oh dear me! But the funny thing is that, that is exactly what happened to your uncle Gavin. I know this because his mother, your Gran wrote to me and told me all about it.

He was also riding around the swimming pool, in his pyjamas as I recall, and fell in. He at first got his foot stuck in the bicycle's chain but managed to kick it free.

Yes, I remember him well. I very nearly overloaded my sleigh with all the presents he got every year! It's so sad that he has grown-up and probably forgotten all about me. But give him a kiss and cuddle from me when next you see him.

Anyway, I have to be going now Jenna, as this is the night before Christmas Eve, and to celebrate the finishing of all our hard work we usually hold a Nativity play. I am playing Joseph, Mother Christmas is Mary, and Pudding is the donkey. Comet, Rudolph and Blitzen are the Three Wisemen's camels!

Lots and Lots of Holiday Hugs and Christmas Kisses

All My Love

Very cute, it's a shame I didn't read this at Christmas.

It's the kind of story I'd like to make up and read to my daughter when she'd old enough to understand.

Now this is a sweet one. Glad it was still here, even though we are way past Christmas!

One thing... "and this don't bark"- thus

Hope your holidays were as good as mine.

So sweet Gavin and knowing this was for your neice makes it all the better.
I hope she enjoyed it because it certainly put a smile on my dial!

Nice seasonal piece, Gavin.
I suggest you check your spelling: there/their, and put 'to celebrate finishing all our hard work'.

Compliments of the season, Min x

Thanks for spotting that Mike! Well at least a half-heated sniff is better than a half-heated fish... Haha. : )
