Girl

You are the beautiful girl
Everyone sees you
Everyone watches you
And at the ball, they notice you and say
'Look at that beautiful girl'
But no one approaches
No one will ask you to dance
You are too perfect
Your face with your dark eyes
Which scream of loneliness
And your smooth cheeks
Which would be covered in tears, were it not for the fact
That you had nothing left.
And not to forget
Your tempting red lips
You keep them firmly shut
To lock your voice inside
Perhaps they think
You are too thin
-it may be true
After all, you stopped eating weeks ago
In a desperate effort
To get someone to notice you
Not as the beautiful girl at the ball
Who stands in the doorway
Eyes shining with loneliness
Cheeks, alabaster, free from tears
Lips locked tight

But as a lost young woman
Who has, unwittingly,
pushed her salvation away
By making herself
Too beautiful

Great piece of work. It really captures that edge of society. Those people that strive for perfection but it's only to cover up their insecurities.

Strong emotion, very well portrayed. I think Scribe is right.

Powerful! It seems it took quite a while to pen this one, no? Pieces this strong usually do. Raw conveyance of emotion and observation here.
