Alone in the Dark

I am still here,
though you may have forgotten me.
I watch from the shadows,
hidden and afraid,
but longing still to be remembered.

Pushed away,
abandoned and destroyed,
yet I persist,
though perhaps I should not.

I should be defeated,
even long dead,
yet I am here still,
longing to be remembered,
but I am ignored.

A heart remains in you still,
beating and pulsing,
and part of it refuses to forget,
longing a return to paradise.

For I am love,
and inside you I still stand.
Even though betrayed,
I will be fought for.
That is what I am.

Love is a tricky bitch. It can cause so much joy yet cause so much pain.

Enjoyed.**
