House Arrest

I used to go out
But now I stay in
I went on a road trip
Now I go to the bathroom
I watched the ocean
Now I watch the corner of a tree
I stared at the sky
Now I watch the ceiling
I lay on a dune
Now the sofa is my home
I wrote in my head
Now the screen is my paper
I ran I walked I cycled
I mooch I fumble I twitch
I whistled at the moon
Now I reach for the switch

Because I work for hospice it makes me think of how a person must feel as they lose more and more of their independence to the disease taking everything, even their life, away from them. Of course, this could just be an extreme couch potato.
