Penance ©

Memories indelibly ingrain
saddening; but not agonizing,
my mind is addled by the rain
water or tears, it so confusing...

Simply fast and furious,
brutally fierce endeavor,
racing on the delicate cheek
with bitterly salty flavor.

Always the same hallucination
perhaps sorrowful prophecy,
striking images of confusion
like painfully piercing my skin.

What I though was love,
seems to turn into hate.
may be it's all the way around,
my heart now grown desolate.

Blinded by desperation
and holding to a dream'¦
nightmare is a better description
emotionally disturbed I fight.

Not noticing that I may be hurting,
oh miserable sorrowful justification,
instead of kissing or even caressing
was taking the wrong course of action.

Forever living everlasting penance
deserving no better punishment,
seeing you being afraid of my menace
trying to hold you intensely demented.

Frightening loneliness reigns my kingdom
knowing that there is no forgiveness,
repentance took over and stayed forever
wishing for you to regain righteous happiness.

very nice, very well written. You have a beatuiful way with words. Your lines are dramatic, short and punchy yet say so much and fit so well together. Thanks for sharing.

I really think that at the end, they donâ??t find a way to reconcile their actions and they forever keep trying to get some sort of redemption.
I am convinced that no ruthless action goes unpunished.

Hey,

There are some very beautiful word choices i think here in this piece. The way you've set your stanzas up is great. they interact and twist around each other quite beautifully. very effective!

thanks for the read,
MM

i got this. that is the price they have to pay for their brutal actions--penance for a lifetime. i wonder, how do they forgive themselves?

anyway, thanks for the nice read. got me thinking there awhile.

Freda
