Someone please help me understand
the deceitful laws of this land;
why black men and women are truly deviating from God's original plan;
why many are deceived to believe they can't
when they really can.

Please help me understand
how after 400 years of slavery
and all we've endured century after century;
black people can't seem to achieve the greatest victory;
unity in our own community.

Please help me understand
the blood and the crip ordeal;
why, just because you wear red or blue,
you're labeled as food;
targeted to be killed;
Like the days of cowboys killing outlaws
up in the countryside hills;
just for thrills;
leaving the government more room
to pass new laws and crazy ass bills;
Not realizing they're keeping
cemeteries and prison systems filled.

Please help me understand
why we have less blacks in schools
and more leaving incarceration;
or existing from behind prison walls
or awaiting re-incarceration
living impoverished;
inevitably committing the same criminal activity
that led them to parole,
or either probation;
not on the front line of the civil rights war;
fighting for the recreation of this nation;
So that we can
truly rebuild a stronger foundation;
and eliminate the situation
of murderous gang organizations,
which have been poisoning the minds
of our next generation.
