The End Times'

The End Times'

We're Right and You're Wrong
Segregation
And a Further History of the Right-Wing
Part 3

Since I started this essay more than two months ago, many of the religious wing have illuminated there views and stance on many different issues, even sticking their feet in their mouths several times. Pat Robertson called for the assassination of Venezuela president Hugo Chavez. Bill Bennett was quoted as saying that the mass abortion on all black fetuses would cut down and eventually illuminate crime. Lewis (Scooter) Libby was indicated on perjury charges due to false statements he made during grand jury hearings and Karl Rove is still under investigation for the outing of Valerie Plame. It has also come to light that Rove, Libby and vice president Dick Cheney were in engaged in conversations on Ms. Plame's identity, creating suspension in Cheney's role in the outing Plame. And New Orleans uncovered the not so hidden racism of Louisiana. After hurricane Katrina aide to the predominantly African American and all poor masses left be hind after the storm, were slow to arrive and in some cases, never arrived at all. The police and national guards were given shoot to kill orders to stop 'looters.' Perhaps the most telling about the orders was that those who were labeled as looters and those labeled as citizens hunting for food were by and large contingent on skin color. Blacks were the looters and the whites as poor victims just trying to survive. And the final issue that has been ruling the airwaves since I started this blog is the nomination of the radically anti-civil liberties judge Samuel Anthony Alito Jr to the Supreme Court. The following is a closer look at those you may not hear about in the news but, make no mistake; they are some of the most active in forming American policy by either withdrawing or offering support to those candidates who are willing to push the religious right-wing agenda. We will also look at the real scope of the new right-wing known as the 'End Times.' Last, will be some of the most telling quotes by some of the current oligarchy who pull the strings in Washington.

One institution that should not be ignored is the First Baptist Church in Dallas Texas, a major weight behind the administration of George W. Bush. If you go to the link, www.firstdallas.org/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Page&PageID=76 , one of the first notable facts about this institution one will notice is who serves as members of its board. Among others are ex-Attorney John Ashcroft, George W Bush, Director of the Secret Service Brian L. Stafford and Colin Powel. As you can see by the names, the FBC has cast itself far into the world of politics and power to the point that key players in the Bush cabal reside as members.
The history of the church gives a peek into its connection with the Neo-cons. In fact some of the driving forces behind the religious right found their genesis (no pun intended) in the FBC. Long time supporter of H.L. Hunt Rev WA Criswell once headed the church. His contributions to the rise of the new republicans began with his denomination of 16 million members according to the Guardian of London, http://www.guardian.co.uk/obituaries/story/0,,633523,00.html . He used his clout to run several successful radio stations to push the religious agenda and established a seminary that used its young graduates to push the message being permeated throughout the United States by the 'Moral Majority.'
Having worked several years under Criswell long time White house advisor Billy Graham has taken over has head of the church. He also has helped in creation of the religious network that now surrounds the Bush family. The elder Bush still attends mass at the FBC while George W Bush cultivated the Criswell support during his own presidential bid. This connection between the oil company heads and the new right-wing didn't go un-noticed by the Washington Post. In an article by a commentator he states, 'For the first time since religious conservatives became a modern political movement, the president of the United States has become the movement's de facto leader.' But at center of the operation, Wallie Amos Criswell still pulls the strings that control the current squatters of the White House. At the age of 34 he was placed at head of the First Baptist Church after making a name for himself at Baylor then later Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his PHD. When he took over in 1944, the church had a member base of a mere 6000 members. After a short period of time, that number grew to 28000 members. He spent 11 million dollars for the expansion of the FBC to surrounding property. According to the Guardian of London in an article titled, 'The Rev WA Criswell Flamboyant Christian fundamentalist and key figure in America's religious right' He up graded the church with, 'orchestra pit, television facilities, and all the other technological appendages of modern American evangelism.' Starting in the 1969 he used the church as a vehicle in assisting the rise of the religious right- wing. When the Neo Cons took control of the government in the 1980s t hen later in the 200s, he retired and led more quite golden years before he died in 2002.

The real question that must be asked is what is behind the Christian right-wings agenda? The answer, in part, can be found on the ACLU website. Here, one can read about the new GOP's vision of what can only be scribed as the architecture for the apocalypse. http://www.acluwa.org/Issues/religious/3.html#3.7

The End Times
Part2

The End Times bring two schools of thought that have long divided the Evangelical extremists. The first school of thought is referred to as the 'premilliennialists'. This group holds up the raptures which predict an ultimate final battle between good and evil which brings forth Armageddon. During this period, all of those Christians who have been 'saved' will be lifted en mass to heaven. After the great battle, the true Christians will be lowered back to Earth where they will rule with Christ. Since they believe that the mass transformation of the world will come with the coming of Christ they see no need to become politically involved within any partly. Instead, their aim is to 'save' as many souls as possible and convert as many non-believers as they can. To the dismay of the Pat Robertsons of the world, the majority of the followers of the 'The End Times' which offers no political right no extra political weight are premillienialists.

The other side of the argument is the "postmillennialists." This group represents an overwhelming minority of the country despite their control over White House. They believe that Christ's return is contingent on the rule of Christians for one thousand years. They feel that they must pave the way for the second coming; as a result, their followers are some of the most rabid political activists on the right. Since 1964 they have been somewhat of a parasitic entity, feeding off the Republican Party. They first made their way to the front of the political camera with the campaign of Barry Goldwater and since were responsible for George HW Bush to win the mayoral elections in Houston Texas, 1972. Later they were the deciding factor in the Regan elections and the elections of many rabidly religious senators and congress persons.

The Reconstructions Movement
Part3

Despite the rather small following of the 'postmillennialist" teachings, they have been some of the most active in reshaping American policy. Their political action committee is known as Reconstructionists. They believe that the United States government should reform itself to the teachings of the Bible. Their beliefs are so radical that many refer to them as the American Taliban, and correctly so. Central to the 'postmillennialists" philosophy is, is the emphasis of taking the Bible literally instead of metaphorically.
On top of the list of these fire and brimstone fanatics is John Birch Society activist Rousas John (R.J.) Rushdoony, vst. The scope of his views range from, the death penalty for Homosexuals, 'abortion, and adultery; the abolition of the prison system; which would be made possible by imposing the death penalty on serious criminals and forcing less serious criminals to make restitution; the elimination of sexually explicit materials; schools run entirely by the churches; and the complete elimination of property taxes' according to ACLU. For the interest of time, you can read more about him an the rest of the reconstructionist movement at the website, http://www.aclu-wa.org/Issues/religious/3.html#3.7 .

As promised here are some quotes from the Neo-cons that should bring to light where they stand in the reconstruction of the United States.

"I don't know that atheists should be considered citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God." George Bush Sr.

"Oh, you're one of the sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it." Michael Savage' stated on national Television

"The 'wall of separation between church and state' is a metaphor based on bad history, a metaphor which has proved useless as a guide to judging. It should be frankly and explicitly abandoned." William Rehnquist

"Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."
"If you commit a crime, you're guilty."
"There is only one way to get rid of nuclear weapons... use them" Rush Limbaugh

For the first time ever, everything is in place for the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ." Ronald Regan

"As the church watches from the sidelines, the ungodly elect atheists and homosexuals to school boards and legislatures to enact policies and laws that destroy our Christian children and discriminate against Christian families."
"Atheistic secular humanists should be removed from office and Christians should be elected...Government and true Christianity are inseparable."
"We'll take away their power and their money. Money comes from students. We'll break their backs by taking 24 million kids out of the public schools." Robert Simonds

"The Islamic people, the Arabs, were the ones who captured Africans, put them in slavery, and sent them to America as slaves. Why would the people in America want to embrace the religion of slavers."
"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different...More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history."
"When lawlessness is abroad in the land, the same thing will happen here that happened in Nazi Germany. Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals ' the two things seem to go together."
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."
"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense, I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist."
"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."
"[Homosexuals] want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers."
"[Planned Parenthood] is teaching kids to fornicate, teaching people to have adultery, every kind of bestiality, homosexuality, lesbianism ' everything that the Bible condemns."
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war." Pat Roberson.
"Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."
"Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of 'kill everyone who doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the name Mohammed'" Ann Coulter
