Ego Isn't Shy

That's what makes me happy;

When the faces grin and nod -
tiny wrinkles crawling from the ends
of their eyes.

"I wanna pick your brain,"
the choir of perceptive ears.
The instant where you look up
and know you've inspired thought -
When you know they're afraid to speak next,
unable to follow the previous act.

No other drink could taste as good
as the crashing waves
of prohibited forms!

Tell me a story that shatters my porcelain skull.

Read me a poem
that melts into the veins as blood.
If all man knew my brain as you,
I'd never have to try for play.

Praise my sacred verse!
Drink my spoken notes!

I really like this piece. Visceral (sp?) and completely involving.

"Read me a poem/that melts into the veins as blood."

Wow. That's one hell of a visual. I like it.

Thanks for the comment.

"When you know they're afraid to speak next,
unable to follow the previous act."
- nicely placed right in the middle of the piece to echo the title.
Thanks for the read.

A few of you have asked for me to take this from paragraph form and make it look more poem-y. So yep, I did it, lemme know what you think.

Bravo, John! Brilliant writing. It's only 113 words, and would work beautifully in poetic form. I would love to see these words cascading down the page. Gorgeous imagery.
