The Night Sky

My wings unfold and I take flight
Feeling the breeze dance across my flesh
Hidden by the dark of night
With you held tightly under my arms sleeping steadily

I go up high holding you close
You face warm against my flesh
In to the sky I rise
Until the clouds seem as a sea

I speed up and hold you tighter still
My wings curl around you
And we begin to descend
My only thought is of you

We fall faster and the wind starts to roar
Ripping at my feathers
It turns us into a spin
And my thoughts are still upon you

We are getting close now
The ground is rushing to meet us
I grip you firm
And slowly unfurl my wings

I glide to you window
And slowly put you down Still in slumber you are
And I leave a feather so you know I was there
And that it wasn't a dream

But that time has gone
And now you looked the window
That used to be my door
But I shall still fall from the sky and feel your warmth
