Garnet Prescriptions
It's a rare pleasure
To have a peace as delightful as this.
One that fills the mind with
The cotton candy, the sparkle of stars scattered above'
The carnivals, the youth fairs'
With their rides, assortments of candy apples'
Soft pretzels, funnel cakes.
The sugar's sweet,
Wonderful.
The thrill exhilarating'
Everything's as it should be,
Tinted in a rosy haze'
Do I dare to reenter the world?
That 'reality' encompassing all that pain and inevitable change?
Do I dare to remove the glasses?
Feel the poignant alienation from the
Separate peace that lies only in their lenses?
My hand trembles'
I'm reluctant.
