The Dark Corner
Shrouded in darkness,
Near the corner'¦
A single vertex of peace outlining the internal excitement.
They stand and sit, perplexed and amazed'¦
Drawn in by the mesmerizing sight.
The subject draws in their attention,
Raising its hands,
Covered in the colorful finger-paint.
With staggering skill,
The fingers map out the regions.
Mastering the essential skill of cartography
And showing off as it passionately fills in the delicate wrinkles,
The lines created as the hint of a smile emerges.
They shape the curvaceous hillsides, the cheeks and lips,
And pay special attention to the expressive eyes,
Their expressions unearthed with meticulous detail.
With the impressive talent,
They stare'¦idle'¦motionless,
Forever crystallized in the corner,
Separate from the hustle and bustle.
They are victims to some degree,
Saturated to the bone with the serene, and peaceful pleasure
Of the moment that drew them away so suddenly,
And refuses to release its grip'¦
So they sit, now finished masterpieces
Their coffee lukewarm and untouched on the checkered tablecloth,
Nevertheless, they do not mind, eyes downcast and minds hypnotized'¦
They sit this way for countless seconds'¦
Minutes, hours,
In the deafening silence of harmonious content, that surrounds them only.
They are permanent in the moment amongst a world
Of impermanence and feverish change.
They exist forever in time as a corner of peace,
A single vertex,
Completely shrouded in darkness'¦
